the northern highlands of Costa Rica, specifically in the zone of and
near Cano Negro Lagoon and river system. Alligator Gar fishing can also
be done in the Tortuguero Canals near the Caribbean coast, but Caño

needed to take on these voracious predators with toothed mouths like
razor knifes. A certified Rapala Pro Staff guide will take you
fishing in Caño Negro, where big cranks and lipless plugs in the likes of Rapala DT16
on 60 to 80 lb
leaders with 15-25 lb monofilament, or more lately braided line, on 6 to 7
foot rods in the medium heavy side armed with bait casting reels, sometimes
low profile ones.
